EAPM COURSE - INTRAPARTUM CARDIOTOCOGRAPHY (Basic/Intermediate level)

Coordinator: Diogo Ayres de Campos (Portugal)

EAPM COURSE - ANTENATAL AND POSTNATAL MANAGEMENT AND OUTCOME IN MONOCHORIONIC TWINS

Coordinator: Enrico Lopriore (the Netherlands)

Monochorionic (MC) twins pregnancies are at greater risk of adverse outcome and therefore require additional antenatal care. Potential complications include twin-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS), twin anemia-polycythemia sequence (TAPS), selective fetal growth restriction (sFGR) and monoamnionicity (MA). The differences and similarities between these complications can be quite confusing at times. But don't worry! In this course we will help you to differentiate between the various disorders and discuss which ultrasound/doppler measurements are required to follow-up MC twin pregnancies, and explain the differences in diagnostic criteria, management options and potential pitfalls. After a short break we will continue by first showing you tips and tricks on how to inject a MC placenta with color dye and learn why it is so important (and fun!) to look at these placentas. Afterwards we will explain to you why it is crucial to do the right diagnostic tests after birth and explain which therapeutic interventions are needed in the neonatal period. Finally, we will give you a clear overview of the long term neurodevelopmental outcome in the various types of complicated MC twins, so you know how to counsel parents if they ask you about the future of their children. We will then end we a group discussions and discuss cases (which you can also bring up if you want)

EAPM COURSE - PREDICTING AND PREVENTING ADVERSE OUTCOMES IN PLACENTA DYSFUNCTION RELATED DISORDERS (Basic/Intermediate level)

Coordinator: Stefan Verlohren (Germany)

The definition of the disease complex "preeclampsia" is changing as is our understanding of the pathophysiology of the condition. Placenta dysfunction related adverse outcomes comprise a wide range of obstetric complications that are common in our daily work. Precise prediction is key to prevention of maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality. The introduction of angiogenic biomarkers such as sFlt-1 and PlGF have helped to better predict and prevent adverse vents. However, in the daily routine, differential diagnosis is often not straight forward. In this online course we focus on how to best predict outcome. This course is centered around practical knowledge transfer. For this, we have chosen a case-based format. After a short introduction into each topic, case examples from the daily work of the speakers are used to illustrate management. The course is interactive and will allow questions and discussion at any time.

EAPM COURSE - NEONATAL BLOOD TRANSFUSIONS AND HEMATOLOGIC DISORDERS (Basic/Intermediate level)

Coordinator: Enrico Lopriore (the Netherlands)

Preterm neonates often receive multiple transfusions with various blood products, including red blood cells (RBC), platelets and fresh frozen plasma (FFP). Why, when and how much to transfuse is not entirely clear and even sometimes confusing as there are many conflicting guidelines available. In this course we will discuss the current evidence and give you some tools to help you decide whether or not to transfuse. Our aim is to keep things as simple and clear as possible, and provide young specialists with clear and practical guidelines for your daily practice when working at your NICU. We will also discuss the antenatal and postnatal management and outcome in two specific hematologic disorders, namely Hemolytic disease of the Fetus and Newborn (HDFN) and Fetal/Neonatal Alloimmune Thrombocytopenia (FNAIT). In HDFN we will focus on the role of IVIG, exchange transfusions and EPO, whereas in FNAIT we will focus on the role of IVIG and matched or random platelet transfusions.
