The European Association of Perinatal Medicine announces elections for the Executive Board (EB), to take place at the General Assembly, on the 18th of September 2026 at 16:30-18:30 CEST, at the congress venue of the XXX European Congress of Perinatal Medicine, in Warsaw, Poland. Positions open for election are:
- President-Elect – from the area of Neonatology
- General Secretary – from the area of Obstetrics or Neonatology
- Treasurer – from the area of Obstetrics or Neonatology
- Six additional EB members: 3 from the area of Obstetrics, 3 from the area of Neonatology. EB members should be representative of the different areas of Europe (north, south, east and west). Elections for the three last posts of EB members, will not consider any candidates that do not fulfil these rules.

Application process
- CV (one-page A4 document) – including photo, current professional position, previous experience in scientific societies, research and publications
- Motivation letter (maximum 500 words) – stating the main reasons for the candidacy, which can include ideas, suggestions, or future projects for the EAPM
National Delegates and voting rights
National Delegates are nominated by member societies. Where country representations is assured by a national society of Perinatal Medicine, this society nominates two National Delegates. When country representation is assured by a society of Obstetrics/Maternal-Fetal Medicine and a society of Pediatrics/Neonatology, each society nominates one National Delegate. Nominations of National Delegates by member societies are sent in writing to the Secretary-General until seven days before the GA. At the election, each National Delegate represents 50% of the country’s vote. Members of the EB may participate in the GA but do not have the right to vote.
Voting process
Elections will take place irrespective of the number of National Delegates present, and all aspects of voting shall be secret.
Candidates will be elected individually, starting with the President-Elect, the Secretary-General, the Treasurer, and the six remaining EB members.
Candidates that do not get elected to a certain EB position, may run for other subsequently available
EB positions, in the same General Assembly. Decisions will be taken if at least 50% of votes are in favour. In the event that no candidate achieves a majority vote, the candidate with the lesser number of votes will be withdrawn from the election and a new poll shall be held. This will be repeated as many times as needed to achieve a majority vote. In the event of a tie, a second poll will be held. If the votes in the second poll are once more equally split, the President will have the deciding vote.
